§ 02 — Our Methodology
How every service begins and ends
Every watch arriving at Kemuning Horology follows the same intake process regardless of which service is requested: a ledger entry is opened, the piece is assigned a reference number, and the client is given a written account of the initial condition assessment before any work proceeds. This entry is the basis for everything that follows.
At completion, the entry is updated with the work performed, any parts replaced (noting their provenance), the timing machine figures measured, and the water resistance test result if applicable. The updated entry is retained on file. There is no charge for retrieving it at a later date.

§ 03 — Service A
Antique & Pocket Watch Restoration
Long-form work on key-wound, fusee and early wristwatch movements, covering bushing of worn pivot holes, repivoting where needed, cleaning of the fusee chain and refinishing of steel work. Missing parts are hand-made or reconditioned rather than substituted, and each replacement is recorded with its origin noted in the ledger. Suited to family pieces that have not run for years.
Timeframes run from six weeks upward and are agreed in writing before anything is opened, with the option to stop at the assessment stage.

- Full disassembly and ultrasonic or hand cleaning of movement
- Inspection and bushing of worn pivot holes
- Fusee chain inspection and cleaning where present
- Steel refinishing and mainspring assessment
- Correct lubrication of all pivots, levers and jewels

§ 04 — Service B
Water Resistance Restoration
Renewal of the full gasket set, cleaning and inspection of case-back and crown threads, replacement of worn tubes, and dry then wet testing to confirm the case holds to its rating. Results are recorded as a measured figure rather than a claim, and clients are advised plainly where a case can no longer be brought back to its original rating.
Suited to pieces used in humid conditions or exposed to condensation under the crystal. Four to six working days.

- Dry air pressure test before wet immersion
- Wet pressure test to rated depth

§ 05 — Service C
Cleaning, Inspection & Ledger Entry
External cleaning of case and bracelet, opening and inspection of the movement under magnification, measurement of rate on the timing machine, and a written ledger entry describing what was found. The entry is kept on file so future work can be compared against it. A useful first visit for owners who are unsure whether anything is wrong and would prefer to know before spending further.

- External cleaning of case, bracelet and crystal

- Rate, amplitude and beat error measured on timing machine
- Condition observations noted in plain language
- Ledger entry written and retained on file
- Recommendations made if further work appears advisable

§ 07 — Technical Standards
Standards applied across all services
Client data & record privacy
Service entries and contact details are held on closed workshop records, not shared externally. Clients may request a copy of their entry at any time.
Calibrated instrument standards
Timing machine and pressure test equipment is calibrated against reference standards. Results reflect actual measured values rather than inferred estimates.
Direct client communication
Questions about the service entry are answered by the watchmaker who performed the work. There is no intermediary between client and technician for service-related queries.
Correct lubricant specification
Lubricants are selected by viscosity for each application — pallet stones, impulse pin, barrel arbor and crown wheels each require a different product. Specification is noted in the service entry.
